Showing us already that it wasn?t messing around, Trident?s Kraken A.M.S. case for the Samsung Galaxy S4 was surely one beastly looking thing, but then again, it has an astounding level of protection. However, not everyone is intent on picking up rugged cases that bulk up the handset?s size to unwieldy levels, so that?s where the Trident Aegis case comes to mind, as it sports an aggressive design that still has an adequate amount of protection.

When you?re gunning to meet military standard 810F for protection against drops and shock, you know that design isn?t something that?s going to be a strong point ? and that?s exactly what we see with this. Sure, it does add some size and weight to the handset, but it?s not as overpowering as the Kraken A.M.S. case, but at the same time, we really dig the shiny speckled looks of its aggressive design. Comprised out of two pieces, a sturdy polycarbonate outer shell that wraps around the inner silicone sleeve, the combination of the two helps to give the case its protection and shock absorption ? so it?ll withstand drops from a height of 4 feet.

As much as we?re confident about its ability to withstand drops, the front of the case is left exposed. However, Trident includes a screen protector with the purchase to keep it protected from scratches. Thankfully, the case makes it so that the display is recessed, which means that it won?t come into contact with surfaces if it?s laid flat. Additionally, the rugged feel of the case is there, but we still have access to all of the phone?s ports and buttons.

Flaunting a lower price point of $34.95, which is cheaper than the fully ruggedized Kraken A.M.S. case, the Trident Aegis case is a great alternative if you want to save some money and still have a reasonable level of protection against drops and shocks.
