It had been a patiently waiting game with A.B.C. that kept pushing the liquor license back and kept people wondering when?Oscars Cerveteca would start serving beer and wine? ?after all, its called ?cerveteca?! For many of us Venetians, its refreshing to find out there?s a new place off Rose Ave, that serves great food and now beer and wine, that doesn?t have a hole in the wall feel. For many neighborhood locals, you may have heard of the Venice Beach Wines next door. Oscar is no stranger to?Venice, having opened the Wine Bar a few years back. ?Back then this street was so ghetto, nobody believed I could pull if off, but slowly I started building a nice place where people can drink a bottle of wine or a local beer in this neighborhood.? Now with the opening of his new restaurant two doors down, you see alot of VBW regulars trickle on down to check out Oscar?s new spot. The menu can be described as a latin fusion cuisine, mixed with a sprinkle of family love. Starting with Norma?s Chipotle Beer Shrimp that trust me, will leave you wanting to lick your fingers? its that good.

If you?re lucky, you can witness Oscar?s mamma in the kitchen prepping food and perfecting her original ceviche recipe which is not only great to look at but delicious as well. The popular selection of small plates that include chicken and cheese empanadas, cheesy pots, and fried pickles have proven to be the favorites, while also offering a wonderful selection of healthy choices including salads, mexican corn, sashimi, and more.?For the meat-lovers, The Southern burger with homemade pimento cheese is sure to satisfy any palette, as well as the grilled skirt steak with a side of homemade chimichuri.

There is also vegetarian and vegan options, as one of the waitresses explains, ?I love the quinoa and kale salad. Its all protein and has chile?lime cashews which are so good!? It always takes me awhile to decide what I want to eat. Everything just sounds so good. Between a great selection of creamy?mac ?n cheese, delicious shrimp, tasty fish tacos, and amazing sausage boards, it?s tough to choose.

?One of my favorite items on the menu is the bacalao? said Miguel, manager. ?But it has to go with a beer?. As if the food wasn?t enough to bring you to Oscars, the beer selection is what we were all waiting for. With OVER 150 different brews to choose from, 8 on tap including Cider and Blue House IPA, a local favorite brewed in El Segundo. Homemade White Sangria is also a favorite, with chopped pieces of apples and grapes makes it a perfect beverage just in time for the summer. I could go on about the beer and wine, but its best if you check it out for yourself.

What about the music, you ask? They even open up the side patio gate to have the neighbors play cool beachy live music on the weekends.?Its easy to see why Oscar?s Cerveteca is rapidly becoming the neighborhood favorite. Im so proud of my son, Mamma said, we have been waiting a long time for a place like this!? So have we Mamma, so have we!
