My Thoughts
This is my first encounter with Angel's i am all up to speed with Vampires and just about there with werewolves, so i thought i had better get to know the Angel's. I am glad i did i really enjoyed reading this book?even though?it is book 1 and just the start of things to come, i am really excited to learn more!
I got sucked into the story line straight away i was interested in Aaron straight from the of, what helped was the fact that he works at a Veterinary surgery and was dealing with the dogs there and i have worked in a similar capacity and felt i could relate to that, although as the story goes on it does not focus on Aaron's job this was just part of the intoduction to Aaron's life, but i thought it was captured well and it caught my interest in Aaron.
In the beginning Aaron comes across as a nice young man who has had a bit of a tough childhood and now he is turning 18 he is now blooming into an adult and is starting to put his struggles behind him. I fell in love with his dog Gabriel, the ideal dog for me, i will say no more but if you read the book you will understand why.
The story line moves at a nice pace normality is portraid only briefly until things start to unfold little by little, always enough to keep you wanting to read on. About half way through the story line when Aaron learns what and who he?actually is the story line starts to explode and there is constant action and?you are?gripped until the end.
Thomas' writing is explosive and gripping he definitely knows how to keep a reader reading and he developed his characters really well i could picture them all and feel what they were feeling throughout the book, this is not a predictable story lot's of unexpected things happen, i thought Thomas was quite daring on some of the decisions he made with the story line considering this is a young adult fiction book, and this aspect set's the book apart from your usual expectations.
I loved the angel Camael i am quite fond of him, and enjoy reading about his relationship with Aaron and Gabriel. Verchiel on the other hand the leader of the powers, a nasty peice of work, i cannot wait to see how he will be dealt with in the next book.
This is book 1 in the series and definitely looks just to be the start of things i am really looking forward to reading book 2 and finding out how Aaron will continue on with his life after all the changes, at the end of Book 1 the story so far conluded at a nice point where i felt satisfied that not to many loose ends were left, the first chapter of the following book is included to get you started on the next part of Aaron's journey.
If you like a book that mixes normality with the supernatural along with an explosive storyline this is definitely the book for you.
