Have you seen this trend? Right now you can sign up a subscription for just about everything. Razors, seeds, wardrobes, undergarments, socks... everything but the kitchen sink. If you can buy it, you can pretty much get a subscription for it and have it appear at your door monthly.
As a parent, I do this already with diapers, cleaning supplies and other mundane household items. But what about fun? Can I have a big box of fun arrive at my door each month? Now you can.
Enter: Kiwi Crate. It is precisely what every parent needs. The pitch is that this box of activities would appeal to busy families with little time to plan creative projects. I beg to differ. I'm at home with my girls and go out of my way (as a living example of creativity) to open their eyes the magic of art and exploration. But Kiwi Crate completely exceeded my expectations.
Our little crate had supplies for two children to both create a stained glass window (or two, if they chose) and to learn about colors via a spinning top experiment. This was easy, fun, beautifully thought out and wonderfully packed. My four year old daughter and I do crafts almost daily, but this was wildly fun for her.
I think every child is fascinated by the idea of packages arriving at the door. So imagine the excitement when something is addressed to them! It's a lovely detail that the Kiwi Crate takes into consideration. I loved it and was very impressed with the packaging and the attention to detail during each step of the activities.
To keep the idea from getting stale, each month the crate will follow a different theme. It could be dinosaurs, it could be superheros, it could be gardening. Who knows? That's half the fun of the subscription model - you never know what will appear at your doorstep. Each project is kid-tested and covers a range of developmental areas and subjects. How refreshing, to have someone else supply the idea.
We were able to extend the fun over the course of a week, as there were enough supplies to make this last for a few activities. There were also suggested topics to discuss with your little one and probing questions to get them thinking. I like to think of this as a box of potential. Activities like these will surely help you raise a curious and creative child. And a happy one at that.
Will I be subscribing? I just signed up for a year of creative projects delivered to our door. Not only that, this will be one of the top items on my list when it comes time for gifting or recommending ideas to friends.
If you have little ones (or friends / family with little ones) 3-7 years old, this is a home run. The crate has all the supplies necessary for the projects and arrives monthly. This is a win-win for aunts, uncles, friends and parents everywhere.
Thank you, Kiwi Crate!
Here's the great news, Kiwi Crate is committed to what they call The Summer of Giving. During this program, for each new subscription ordered, Kiwi Crate will donate one crate full of arts, crafts, and science activities to a children?s charity.
This week, they have partnered with Life in a Sippy Cup (this blog's little sister site) to donate crates to my charity of choice: Ronald McDonald House Charities. {For those who don't know, take a moment to read my personal story to discover why this charity is so important to me.} It would be a dream come true to donate Kiwi Crates to families who could really use a healthy dose of fun in their lives.
Our goal is to donate 100 crates to each charity! Please use this link to subscribe so we can deliver Kiwi Crates for families in need. Thank you so much for caring and sharing!
