(Isaac submitted this article which seems to continue from exactly where I ended in my last post. Enjoy. I?ll be back with the next in the series)

Knowledge acquisition is good, but it is much better when you put the knowledge you have acquired to judicious use. It is only proper application of knowledge that gives you power. You may have all the degrees in the world without being fulfilled in life. Degrees do not bring fulfilment. It is only when you do what you have passion for that fun and fulfilment become your lot.
When Phillips Emegwali, Africa?s version of Bill Gates in terms of computer wizardry, said ?knowledge is the currency of the world, while the rest is capital?, he failed to add that knowledge only becomes the currency of the world if it is in your area of passion. No matter the knowledge you have, once it is devoid of passion, it may be hard to make the most of it. As an individual, I love writing and public speaking. The two are like second nature to me. I can put words together within a twinkle of an eye to form beautiful expressions. I know this is where my passion lies. So my studying Literature-in-English in the university was not a happenstance. It was a carefully thought out plan. Despite the fact that I work as an administrator today I still write and speak professionally.
Another striking illustration is my love for animals. I have always loved rearing animals from childhood. I remember as a secondary school student I had a lot of goats. My goats were so a dear to me that people could link them up to me in the neighbourhood. The care I gave them made them stand out among other goats. The passion for animal rearing is still very much with me. I have gone as far as Port Novo in the Republic of Benin in search of knowledge. Today I have a farm I run, notwithstanding my tight schedule. While some consider it a strenuous work, I see it as fun.
In 2011 alone, my passion for writing and speaking has opened several windows of opportunities for me. I have anchored 3 wedding ceremonies, I have reviewed 3 books and in April, I anchored the Nigeria?s National Council of Science and Technology extra-ordinary meeting held in Lagos. The meeting was such a big platform that it attracted the Minister of Science and Technology in Nigeria, experts from UNIDO, UNESCO and major universities in Nigeria and beyond. It was indeed a gathering of eggheads. Besides, I have had the opportunity to train some would-be farmers on snail rearing. All these opportunities have, no doubt, brought in additional incomes for me. Who then says the gift of a person cannot make way for him or her?
Passion gives rise to action. It is your passion that keeps you going even in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles. This is because the person who operates in his area of passion hardly sees difficulties; he sees opportunities almost all the time. What drives him is not extrinsic; it is intrinsic. What motivates him is not tangible; it is intangible. For this reason, he forges ahead no matter what he is going through. In December 2009, I lost some of my animals ? chickens and pigs ? , but I never became weary. I moved on as I could see the big picture ahead. What I have today might not have been if I had been discouraged. What actually kept me going then was my passion!
So, what do you have passion for? Is your knowledge acquisition in your area of passion? To enjoy yourself while you work it is important for you to locate your passion. Ensure that you acquire as much knowledge as possible on your passion so as to be reckoned with. I have trained several people on how to rear snails, rabbits, chickens, and grasscutters, among others because of my knowledge on all of these animals. I love rearing animals like I said earlier, but I do not just stop at loving it. I seek knowledge on animal rearing from time to time because I believe you cannot give what you do not have. Passion plus your knowledge makes work enjoyable for you. No one can be celebrated except you operate within your passion. Check this list out: Lionel Messi, the Argentine football whiz kid, mesmerises the world with his football skills and has attained a cult figure all over the world with his passion; Professor Wole Soyinka, the first black person to win the Nobel Prize in Literature, operates within his passion; Bill Gates became a household name in the world of computer because he followed his passion and so on. What is your own passion? Locate yours today, seek knowledge on it and before long you will begin to enjoy life to the fullest. See you at the top!
